Moving On From The Cross
Some Christians are so cross conscious that they believe they have to suffer in this life just as their saviour Jesus Christ suffered on the cross. They have been fed a lot of lies from the pulpit because of the ignorance of the clergy that should minister light to the people they lead. Such people regard it as a badge of honour to be acquainted with grief, sickness, pains, and sufferings just as Christ was on the cross.
They often refer to the sufferings of sickness, disease, weakness, and poverty as carrying their cross in life. This is nothing but a terrible misunderstanding of what Jesus meant when He said in Matthew 16:23 that those who want to come after Him should take up their cross and follow Him.
Generally speaking, the cross that the early disciples had to carry in following Christ was the persecution and harassments that they faced. It was never sickness, disease, poverty, want, failure, weakness or any such thing.
· In fact, to live in sickness after Jesus bore your sicknesses on the cross is to receive the grace of God in vain.
· To live in poverty and defeat after He became poor for your sake is to receive the grace of God in vain
· To live at the mercy of sin is to receive the grace of God in vain.
Listen now as Pastor Obi teaches on how to move on from the cross and walk in the newness of life as Romans 6:4 says: Therefore, we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. The resurrection of Christ after the sufferings of the cross consigned the believer to a life of glory. You are ordained to a life of glory.
